Badminton champion Saina Nehwal on Wednesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of party’s National General Secretary Arun Singh. Saina’s elder sister Abu Chandranshu Nehwal who accompanied her also joined BJP. Speculated over the ace shuttler joining the party started surfacing with Saina seeking appointment of BJP biggies on Tuesday. Making the rumours true, the star player joined the party going all praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“I draw a lot of inspiration from Modi ji. I can see Prime Minister Narendra Modi does so much for the country, I want to do something for the country with him,” she said.
Born in Haryana, Saina was claimed to be one of the successful sportspeople who brought commendable laurels to the country. In 2015, the 29-year-old became the first Indian woman shuttler to achieve the World No. 1 ranking. She recently married her colleague badminton player Kashyap.
