BJP’s Special focus on Mandya; upcoming Karnataka elections
In view of the upcoming elections in the state, Karnataka BJP is on the job of resurrecting its house and takes everybody in to confidence and working on the road map to move forward. The single point agenda is to retain the power once again. Mandya is generally taken as the strong hold for JDS therefore, from Mandya itself, BJP wanted to keep a check on JDS and move forward. It is expected that the PM may also be extending his support to this region by not only scheduling a visit to Mandya once again but also planning to announce a big financial package to ensure the region’s overall development.
There are challenges like corruption charges against some of the party leaders and also people’s dissatisfaction in certain areas on specific issues to list a few. These aspects also made the local BJP leaders to plan their strategies meticulously and to keep special focus on certain regions like Mysuru where in constituencies like Mandya are very important. In fact nine districts of old Mysore are located in this constituency. There are 61 constituencies in this region and both the major political parties JDS and Congress are very strong from long time since.
2018 general elections saw the clean sweep of the Mandya region by JDS since they have won seven constituencies in this region. Narayana Gowda won the 2018 election on JDS but left it and joined BJP in 2019. Representing BJP he was able to get the first victory for BJP in this region by contesting in the bye-election in 2019 and winning. Now, BJP aims to get the Mandya region under its control and various strategies are being worked out.
BJP wanted to get in touch with people of all regions through ‘Vijaya Sankalp Yathra’ which was already started off from Chamaraja Nagar area, where in the PM Modi has participated in one of the rallies. Now Modi is very keen to get himself involved at a deeper level to influence the voters and also to instill confidence among the party cadre under the current circumstances of general up rise against the BJP’s government in Karnataka. Modi’s charisma has worked out wonders in majority of the states and ensured BJP getting in to power and now Karnataka’s BJP leadership is hoping to cash in on the same to be victorious once again at the ensuing elections in Karnataka State also.
Taking stock of the above, the state’s BJP leadership is expecting Modi’s visit once again and planning to take out massive rallies and organize a number of foundation stone laying ceremonies announcing major developmental works across the state. Also plans are in place to announce different welfare schemes specially designed for the different regions of Karnataka in general and particularly in Mandya region. All said and done, this time BJP doesn’t want to miss the bus and thus planning to keep JDS at bay in the Mandya region as well!
