Hours of high drama prevailed in Siddipet after police arrested the state’s BJP unit president Bandi Sanjay on the outskirts of the city. Tensions ran high as the leader along with the party activists tried to barge into the city after the police stopped them as his visit would trigger tensions.
Bandi Sanjay was then forcibly sent away to Karimnagar. In a related development, BJP leaders G. Vivek and Jitender Reddy were arrested and sent back to Hyderabad. Minister of state for home Kishan Reddy and senior BJP leader Chintala Ramachandra Reddy reached Siddipet and met Raghunandan Rao. Situations remained the same in Dubbaka as well, with clashes between BJP and TRS activists.
It all started with raids in on Raghunandan Rao, the BJP candidate for Dubbaka by-polls. Police seized Rs 18.65 lakh from the house of Raghunandan’s relative in Siddipet. The police also claimed that they conducted raids on houses of eight persons.
