The BJP is facing a series of blows in UP. The Samajwadi Party, which wants to seize power this time around, is getting support from all quarters. Naresh Tikayath, National President of the Indian Kisan Union, has announced his support for the SP-Rashtriya Lok Dal alliance in the UP Assembly elections. He said the people of Uttar Pradesh should crown the alliance.
Farmers’ unions, led by Naresh’s brother Rakesh Tikayath, have been agitating for a year on the borders of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, demanding the repeal of farmer’s laws brought by the Center. Farmers from UP were also involved on a large scale in these concerns. The Center recently announced that it was withdrawing those laws. With this, the peasants withdrew their protests. In this context, Tikayath supporting SP is a big blow to the BJP.
The Samajwadi Party and the Rashtriya Lok Dal alliance had earlier announced the list of 29 candidates in the first tranche. While Samajwadi Party candidates will contest from 10 seats, 19 candidates will contest from RLD.
The list of candidates for the second tranche was announced on Saturday. All the seven candidates on this list are from RLD. All the details were shared on social media by LLD.
