Governments have begun distributing booster doses in the wake of rising corona cases in the country. The program has also started in Telangana. Minister Harish Rao inaugurated the distribution of booster dose at Charminar Unani Hospital, Hyderabad. Harish Rao said that first booster doses are given to front-line warriors who are over 60 years of age.
Book a slot in Kovin and go straight to the vaccination center, Harish said. The booster dose is said to be given 9 months after taking the second dose. Government sources say that there are eight and a half lakh people in Telangana who are over 60 years old. Harish suggested that the people’s representatives should cooperate in the vaccination process. He said those with misconceptions about vaccines should be made aware.
The government says it is providing free vaccines to all. He said that Telangana is rushing towards vaccination. The first dose is said to be 100 percent complete. The first dose of the vaccine will be available to 15-18-year-olds from January 3. 38 percent of them said they had completed the first dose.
The health ministry said there would be no government pressure on the booster dose. It can be taken with a personal decision. A booster dose is recommended after consulting a doctor. It is sufficient to book a slot in Kovin based on the previous vaccination registration. No new registration is required.
