Cracking the whip on the private hospitals which have been looting the corona patients under the mask of intensive care, Andhra Pradesh government on Friday cancelled the permissions of all 22 COVID care centres in Vijayawada.
In the line of the fresh orders issued by the district health authority, the state government has revoked the COVID licences of 22 COVID case centres in Vijayawada which were being run by renowned private hospitals in the city.
The decision was learnt to be taken in the wake of numerous complaints from the patients about overcharging against the norms. Amid the allegations over government deliberately turning a blind eye on private hospitals charging more than what was stipulated by the State government for COVID-19 treatment, the move came as a strong warning to all the hospital chains in the city.
It can be noted that Chief Minister Jagan recently constituted mandal-level committees with 3-5 members for inspecting both government and private COVID hospitals to ensure that safety protocols are followed.
