Kavitha, BRS MLC has planned for a massive one day protest meeting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Friday and all the arrangements were in place. The Delhi police gave a big shock to her at the last minute by withdrawing the permission given to her earlier.
The police have advised her to find out an alternative and as the situation has become tense, Kavitha informed media persons that she was asked to find out alternative place as the permission for the protest stands cancelled at the last minute. She was on a visit to Jantar Mantar to oversee the arrangements. She has clarified that the request for permission for the one day protest at Jantar Mantar was already with the Police.
Kavitha has clarified that they have requested for permission for a gathering of 5000 people…yet the Police are willing to provide half of the requested area as there was an application from BJP functionaries also for the allotment of place for their meeting at the same venue…hence the dilemma…and she says that work would be initiated once the permission is granted. However, she is confident that the protest would be in place.
Earlier in the day, at the press meet, Kavitha explains that though the demand for the Women’s Bill was in place for the past 27 years, the bill is yet to pass in the Parliament sessions to become a legitimate bill. Though there were changes of Governments, till date the bill is yet to see the light of the day. While saying that the Womens’ Bill was put on ‘cold storage’ all these years, though the subsequent governments of the day promised for the passing of the bill at priority. According to her, even BJP has kept this point in their Election Manifesto. Kavitha is of the opinion that the President of India, Droupadi Murmu should take the initiative in this regard. According to Kavitha, 18 parties are expected to participate on this Friday’s protest meeting which is scheduled to be inaugurated by Seetharam Yechury. It’s a wait & watch for everyone as per the last minute cancellation of the meet given by the Delhi Police.
