It seems that Telangana government’s prestigious Kaleshwaram project is running into electricity related difficulties of late. It is widely believed that instead of releasing 2 TMC water, not even half TMC water is also not being released from this prestigious project.
A couple of days back 0.4 TMC water only can be released. Reacting on this, Akunuri Murali, former IAS officer wondered that, if it was the case, it’s better to shut down the Kaleshwaram project, which he termed as ‘the white elephant’ project. As this project’s capacity is to release 2 TMC water every day and at present could release only a paltry 0.4TMC which amounts to about 20% only.
While expressing his displeasure on this issue, commented that while the farmers are spending about one lakh rupees per acre, the state government is not able to provide the required water and doing injustice to them. Akunuri Murali also demanded that the state government should pay compensation of Rs.25000/- per acre to the farmers depending on the Kaleshwaram project. Through Twitter, Murali demanded that the Kaleshwaram project should be shut down to safe guard the financial status of the state.
