Stirring up a new controversy, Uttara Kannada BJP MP from, Anantkumar Hegde on Monday made sensational comments on BSNL employees. Terming almost 88,000 employees as anti-nationals, the MP in public meeting stated that the government is on the verge of ousting all the employees and privatise the state-owned telecom giant.
Further supporting his harsh comments, Anantkumar stated that the public sector institute has become a black spot for the nation. “A lot of money that is pumped into the sector as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of a digital India but the employees are not ready to work,” he lashed out.
While these comments triggered a social media controversy, the MP went incommunicado hours after the public meeting which housed the controversy. It Is to the known knowledge that the central government started corrective measures while BSNL and MNTL plunged into deep losses.
As a part of which government announced handsome VRS packages to the employees while almost 90,000 employees accepted the offer. It was learnt that the government spent a whopping Rs 30,000 crores for relieving the volunteered employees.
