History was set on Friday while almost the entire opposition parties boycotted the President’s customary address to Parliament at the beginning of the first session every year. As many as 18 opposition parties on the first day of the Budget Session in protest against the three farm laws passed in September.
It can be noted that Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party is the only opposition party that is against boycotting the address even as parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi has asked the Opposition to reconsider the decision as to the government.
Congress, NCP, JKNC, DMK, Trinamool Congress, Shiv Sena, Samajwadi Party, RJD, CPI (M), CPI, Indian Union Muslim League, RSP, PDP, MDMK, Kerala Congress (M), AIUDF are the major opposition parties that boycotted the speech.
The President in his address highlighted the prevailing situations in the country including the corona battle, the vaccination drive and the production of vaccines.
One Nation- One Ration, Prime Minister Garib Kalyan’s plan in six states, and Atma Nirbhar Bharat. Condemning the violence that took place on Republic Day, the President said that he would provide a minimum support price to the farmers.
