Yet again! She scripts the history with her dominant performance. And this time at the World Championship, Switzerland. PV Sindhu becomes the first Indian shuttler to win this tournament. The 24-year-old took down world number four Nozomi Okuhara of Japan 21-7, 21-7 in straight games to win maiden gold. In 38 minutes of nail-biting match, Sindhu dominated the game with her full attacking style. With this Sindhu treasured two bronze medals, two silver medals and a gold medal at World Championships.
“I lost in the last two finals and this win was very important for me. I thank the crowd for supporting me every time. I won for my country and I am very proud to be an Indian. A big thanks to my coach Miss Kim and Gopi sir and the entire support staff. I also want to dedicate this to my mom, it’s her birthday today. So, happy birthday mom,” said Sindhu in the post-match interview.
