Congress MP Shashi Tharoor who has been condemning the Citizenship Act and National Register of Citizens (NRC) with his sharp and bold comments was seen taking part in the protest Shaheen Bagh on Sunday. He was also seen in a demonstration held at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) in the morning hours alongside Congress State President Subhash Chopra. Taking to the protest, the senior Congress leader took a snap at the BJP-led government for dragging the country into a crisis like never before. He stated that not a day passed without the Home Minister and the Prime Minister themselves making provocative statements.
Condemning the attacks on students and staff in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Shashi Tharoor alleged that police supported the mob darting into the hostels and libraries injuring the students. He also added that the citizenship law was a violation of the Constitution of India. Hundreds of students and protestors gathered at the protest along with Shashi Tharoor. The leader later took to his Twitter account to share his experience.
Addressed a packed throng of students at @jamiamillia_ with @INCDelhi President Subhash Chopra. So thick were the crowds & so blocked the traffic that we had to walk the last fifteen minutes to reach the site. But the audience’s enthusiasm made it all worthwhile. pic.twitter.com/DCXSEp2aFu
