Tensions rose high with almost sixty students of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) getting injured in the clashes between the students and the police on Sunday. While the agitations have been going on from November 9 against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, situations in New Delhi took a violent turn at once with the students setting DTC buses and a fire tender ablaze in New Friends’ Colony in southeast Delhi. Abdul Hamid, the Registrar at AMU stated that everything was under control until Sunday evening after which a few of the students with the support of protestors from out of the campus started pelting stones. The angry mob then set four public buses and two police vehicles ablaze, reportedly. “We are arrangements to evacuate the campus and the university will remain shut till January 5.”
