Dubbaka which is now the focal point of debate in political circles is all set for the poll battle with all the parties finalising their candidates. While BJP and TRS already announced the candidates locking the horns for the vacancy which became inevitable after the death of TRS incumbent MLA Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy in August, Congress will reportedly field their candidate Cheraku Srinivas Reddy today.
Political scenarios heated up in the constituency with three strong candidates locking horns in the by-polls which assumed significance in recent times. Things seemed to turn fetching for TRS candidate, wife of the late MLA Ramalinga Reddy Solipeta Sujatha who is speculated to bank sympathy votes. Further, the family carries goodwill in the constituency adding up to the chances of winning.
Though it was learnt the Dubbaka TRS cadre raised concerns over high command, Sujatha reportedly has the support of minister Harish Roa who strongly suggested her name to KCR. Meanwhile, BJP candidate Raghunandhan Rao who contested and lost the 2014 and 2018 Assembly elections have been extensively campaigning in the constituency with ‘one chance’ formula.
Meanwhile, though an official announcement is yet to be made, Congress has reportedly assured a ticket to Cheruku Srinivas Reddy who is the son of late Muthyam Reddy, a former MLA and functionary of TRS who passed away in 2019. The leader was learnt to bank on his father’s goodwill.
In a related development, on Monday night, the Cyberabad police seized two cars which were transporting Rs 40 lakh cash to the poll-bound constituency at Shamirpet. The cash reportedly belonging to a BJP leader and was meant to be distributed among the voters for the elections.
