BJP’s stand on the capital shift has left both the citizen and the political heads in splits. While the BJP Rajya Sabha member YS Chowdary dropped a hint that centre is waiting for the right time over the capital issue, BJP national spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao stated that centre doesn’t intervene in the State Capital issue. This, in turn, made it clear that BJP wants to play it safe over the capital issue. However, BJP AP Core Committee on Saturday passed a resolution in favour of Amaravati as the state capital. This decision was taken in the committee meeting held in Guntur while almost all the leaders unanimously chose to support Amaravati as the only capital. However, the committee favoured setting up the High Court in Rayalaseema.
AP state unit President Kanna Lakshmi Narayana who sat in for the silent protest at Uddandarayunipalem, the place where Prime Minister Modi laid foundation has been supporting the protesting farmers. BJP Rajya Sabha member YS Chowdary also toured Amaravati and stated that Centre will not sit quietly and will take right action in right time. However, the decision taken by the State unit came as a jolt to the Jagan-led government as almost all the parties in the state are now on the opposite side of his most controversial proposal. On the other hand, sources have it that, Jagan and his team are fast-moving the cards to shift the capital to Visakhapatnam.
