For the fifth consecutive day, India on Monday recorded over 50,000 cases. Taking the total country’s caseload past the 1,800,000-mark, India recorded 52,972 new cases & 771 fatalities from the last 24 hours.
According to the recent health bulletin released by the Union Health Ministry, India has recorded 18,03,695 confirmed COVID-19 cases so far including 38,135 deaths.
As the health officials claim a steady increase in recovery rate, 1,186,203 citizens were cured/discharged/migrated so far taking the total active cases to 5,79,357. As per the data, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh continued to report the highest number of cases while the infection rate is seen rising rapidly in states like Assam and Karnataka.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that 2,02,02,858 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country till August 2.
On the other hand, the list of influential politicians who are falling prey to the deadly coronavirus is seen increasing with each passing day. Hours after Home Minister Amit Shat tested positive, Karnataka Chief Minister announced that he and his daughter are under corona shadow.
