Despite the allegations made by Congress and BJP regarding the irregularities in Kaleshwaram project from the past few months, KCR and his team went on defence mode claiming that the project went on transparently with nine different permissions from central agencies. However, BJP leader and former MP Vivek brought this issue again into the limelight amidst the deliberations of how utile the project is in this agricultural season. BJP leaders have alleged that there was heavy corruption involved in the irrigation projects taken up by the state government, including the Kaleshwaram project.
“Kaleshwaram is ‘all prompt but no substance’ which didn’t come to the rescue in this season. While all the water came down from Yellampalli project, Kaleshwaram remained just for namesake,” said BJP leader Vivek. He also stated that they will take this issue to the Union Water Resources Minister and also demand CBI enquiry on the corruption involved. Vivek also accused the ruling party of bestowing the sub-contracts to his near and dear. He alleged that under the mask of re-designing Pranahita Chevella lift irrigation scheme, the government scammed up to Rs 30 crores.
