Fourteen properties of Congress leader DK Shivakumar who is allegedly connected with a corruption case is now under Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) scanner. Reportedly, the residences, as well as business establishments in Karnataka, Mumbai, and Delhi of Karnataka Congress leader DK Shivakumar and his brother DK Suresh, are simultaneously raided on Monday morning.
“Searches are being conducted today at 14 locations including nine in Karnataka, four in Delhi, and one in Mumbai,” the CBI said in a statement. It can be noted that the CBI has registered a case against DK Shivakumar and others on allegations of acquisition of disproportionate assets.
The sources also added that CBI SP Thomson Jose led the search operation with 60 officials who began at 6 am today and that the central agency had procured a warrant from the CBI Special Court judge late on Sunday evening. Followed by the news, several leaders of the Congress party tweeted to condemn the raids.
Tensions ran high at the Sadashivnagar residence of Shivakumar and Suresh with hundreds of supporters raising slogans in support for the leaders. Situations were brought under control after Suresh appeared on the balcony of his residence and asked the supporters with folded hands to disperse.
