With the recent death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput social media flooded with negativity while netizen started unfollowing the star kids. A few went ahead with rape threats followed by which actors like Sonakshi Sinha quit Twitter over the unbearable negativity.
In the wake of which, social media, especially photo-sharing app Instagram noticed a sudden flood of black and white pictures while a number of celebrities posted filtered photographs tagging few others.
However, a section of netizens is still puzzled over this new viral trend with the hashtags #ChallengeAccepted and #WomenSupportingWomen.
When dug in, there is a strong and sweet message behind the challenge that has resurfaced again on Instagram. The viral campaign is a way for women to show off their appreciation for other women who inspire and support each other. But why only black and white images..?
The campaign is said to be lead in black and white to see and recognise women as other, actual individual beings instead of highlighting skin colour, shape and size. As a part of the campaign women across the world are encouraged to post a plain black and white image instead of the pictures which are usually posed and filtered, taken from flattering angles.
Including the actresses in trend, yesteryear beauties like Tina Ambani, Karisma Kapoor and many others are seen taking up this challenge. So far, more than 3 million photos have been uploaded with the #ChallengeAccepted hashtag; many more have appeared without it.
Here’s to fixing each other’s crowns! 🥂 Love it when a woman supports another woman! Thankyou to all you lovely ladies for nominating me.. Lots of love back to you 🤗 #blackandwhite #WomenSupportingWomen pic.twitter.com/zbvhsfvfZx
