Tensions prevailed in Chittoor district with Dalit leaders from across the state reaching to Tirupati with ‘Chalo Madanapalle’ call over the to protest against the persecution of Dalit judge S. Rama Krishna. AP police reportedly resorted to house arresting many Dalit leaders from the wee hours of Friday itself.
While all Dalit associations in the state conveyed support for the call, former judge Sravan Kumar, who has been leading the anti-Jagan Reddy among Dalits called for rally from the Ambedkar statue in Madanapalle to the sub-collector’s office.
Police, on the other hand, beefed up security at the sub-collector office stating that the rally has no permission. Members of various Dalit groups staged a meaningful demonstration at the Ambedkar statue in Tirupati to protest the arrests and detentions.
The persecution of Dalit judge S. Rama Krishna and against the murder attempt on his brother Ramachandra welcomed flared in the Dalit communities while the leaders warned the Government of dire consequences if it did not stop its oppressive tactics.
