High tensions prevailed in the premises of Visakhapatnam airport with YSR Congress Party workers resorting to clash with the Chandrababu Naidu’s escort that reached to the city to hold a protest against the Jagan-led government. With the TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu announcement that he would hold a meeting with the farmers at Pendurthi and Vizianagaram, a number of YSRCP supporters reached to the airport premises who later resorted to hurling eggs, tomatoes and chappals on former Chief Minister’s convoy.
A few of the ruling party leaders slept in the middle of the road blocking the convoy. This led to a clash between the YSRCP and TDP cadre which ended up gridlocking the Kolkata-Chennai national highway causing inconvenience to many of the passengers rushing to board the flights.

Talking to the media, the TDP chief lashed out on the police officials who were acting in support of the government. “I condemn the way the state police are treating TDP leaders. Why are the police attending the duties without their name badge? This is a planned attack with paid protestors to hurl eggs and tomatoes at us,” he added. He then alleged the police gave up their duties. Deputy commissioner of police reached to the area and has reportedly urged the TDP leaders to stay grounds until the situations were brought to control.
