In what can be called as ‘Chhapaak’ movies effect, Uttarakhand announced pension for acid attack survivors in the state on Sunday. Days after the release of the film which portrayed the struggles of the acid attack victims, Rekha Arya, State Women and Child Welfare Minister, announced that the state government decided to start a pension scheme for acid attack survivors.

Taking to the media, she said that the government is planning to provide a pension of Rs 5000-6000 every month to the survivors under the scheme so that they can live a life with dignity.” The Minister also stated that they will bring the proposal in the next cabinet meeting for the approval. Meghna Gulzar, the filmmaker of ‘Chhapaak’ took to her official Twitter account to share her happiness with the followers. ‘Purpose being served,’ she wrote. As per the reports, 10-11 acid attack survivors are living in the state of Uttarkhand.
