Sparking the speculations over Chinese supremo Xi Jinping’s health condition, the communist leader who has been the centre of global political crisis debate kept coughing violently throughout his address at a Chinese Communist Party event held in Shenzhen.
Chinese State media was seen regularly cutting away from the leader to the crowd when President Xi was coughing which sparked fears he may be suffering from or have contracted coronavirus. During his speech, Jinping could hardly speak due to a violent cough.
“He kept sipping water to relieve his cough but it did not seem to help. The state TV camera covering the event moved away from the Chinese president and focused on the audience whenever he suffered from bouts of cough but the noise of him coughing could be heard clearly,” published a renowned Chinese news channel.
Further, the reports also said that the Chinese President had visited Chaozhou and Shantou earlier this week as part of his southbound tour. It can be noted that the country recently reported 12 new coronavirus cases in the wake of the supremo claiming the economy is recovering from the corona jolt.
US President Donald Trump tested positive. So did Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom and Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil. The presidents of Bolivia, Guatemala and Honduras – were infected too. As were the prime ministers of Armenia and Russia.
