Snubbing numerous reports and theories supporting the fact that the novel coronavirus which has been taking a toll on global health was created in a Chinese lab, World Health Organisation(WHO) released a statement that came as shock to many countries.
A joint study conducted by WHO-China over the origins of COVID-19 stated that transmission of the virus from bats to humans through another animal is the most likely scenario and that a lab leak is “extremely unlikely.”
The ten-member expert team from WHO which was working with the Chinese officials since July 2020 gave a clean chit to China stating that there was no evidence found of large outbreaks that could be related to COVID-19 prior to December 2019 in Wuhan or anywhere else.
Emphasising the same, Ben Embarek from WHO stated that the team did find evidence of wider circulation outside the Wuhan Huanan market in December 2019. While an official report is yet to be released, sources revealed that there might be a few changes that are not vital.
