Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan’s father-in-law Dr. EC Gangi Reddy who was undergoing treatment in Continental Hospitals in Hyderabad breathed his last. The health of the renowned paediatrician reportedly turned critical days after he was shifted to Hyderabad followed by a brief illness.
Known for his philanthropic activities, Dr Gangi Reddy is noted as poor peoples’ doctor in Pulivendula and has close association with the YSR family. It can also be noted that Gangi Reddy’s wife Sugana Reddy and former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy were classmates which led to the marriage of YS Bharathi and Jagan.
Gangi Reddy had his hands on politics as well, as he worked as the Mandal Praja Parishad President for Pulivendula from 2001 to 2005. His padayatra from Pulivendula to Kadapa District Collectorate in support of the demand for distribution of Rabi seed in 2003 gained him a loyal fan base.
Sources confirmed that his last rites will take place in Pulivendula by Saturday afternoon while CM Jagan is scheduled to reach Pulivendula at 11 am.
