It has not been even a day since KCR’s controversial comments on the constitution took place. We noticed an exponential rise in the number of protests and walks that are taking place in different states of India on all levels. The effigies of the chief minister were burnt throughout the districts. Especially, Dalit groups and the opposition are conducting funeral marches against the government. However, TRS leaders are supporting KCR’s comments which on the other hand are only provoking the opposition.
The issue of the new constitution has been debated in the Rajya Sabha for some time. Congress opposed KCR’s proposal unanimously. TRS parliamentary party leader Keshavarao criticized the BJP government openly in the house. He called RSS members- Hindu extremists and accused them of making more hate speeches.
KK said that the spirit of federalism was being damaged under the BJP rule, and secularism is in danger. He said that the Center was underestimating the southern states. He spoke on the remarks made by KCR that the country needs a new constitution. However, Congress leader Mallikarjuna Kharge objected to KK’s remarks.
Kharge said they were strongly opposed to the new constitution proposal. Kharge added that KCR’s comments were meant to support the ideology of the RSS and the BJP. In fact, this is what Congress has been saying for two days. TPCC chief Rewanth Reddy highlighted the same at a press meet on Wednesday. He further quoted that KCR is following in the footsteps of the BJP, simply implementing their ideas.
