As the city records 823 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the highest single-day spike in the year, national capital New Delhi is reportedly gearing up a second lockdown. The speculation came in the wake of India marking the first anniversary of the Janta Curfew.
While the neighbouring states already closed the boarders with Maharastra lately, sources have it that the Kejriwal-led government would make a crucial announcement on Monday evening. Reports also have it that the guidelines in the rumoured lockdown, however, will be eased so that the normal life will not be affected.
As the number of cases is constantly increasing, the state government has already imposed nigh curfew and lockdown in districts with a high spike in cases. With Holi, the festival which has significance in the state right around the corner, speculations ran high that the government would come up with stringent guidelines two days before and after the festival day.
