While the global tally from the new coronavirus has surpassed 23 million on Saturday, India, the third worst-hit nation raced past the 3 million positive cases mark.
With 69,239 fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours, the coronavirus tally in the country stands at 30,44,940. As per the latest figures released by the Union Health Ministry, India by Sunday registered 912 new fatalities while the total death 56,706.
The Indian state and union territories now have 7,07,668 active cases while more than 22,80,567 lakh people have recovered from the infection
While the country is racing towards knocking down Mexico, the health ministry has a different story. As per the statistics, India has been recording a recovery rate which now stood at 74.69 per cent by Saturday as the fatality rate dipped to 1.87 per cent.

India on Saturday also crossed the significant milestone of having conducted over 10 lakh tests in a day for the detection of the novel coronavirus, with more than 3.44 crore such tests conducted so far.
