Amid the sudden spike in corona cases in the country, the Government of India is reportedly gearing up to contain the second wave. While various state governments have already shut down schools and colleges to curb the infection, speculations that the Modi-led government would again close the theatres.
If the same happens, Tollywood producers are now stuck with new tension right when the industry is coping up with the loss incurred with lockdown-1. While reports claim that the government is speculating to allow 50 per cent occupancy instead of complete shutdown, producers will however insure loses.
Industry sources have it that no bada producer is now in a position to release a film with 50 per cent occupancy. On the other hand, few reports also claimed that producers are even getting ready for a complete lockdown and to postpone the release of high budgeted films.
In May, Tollywood has major releases like ‘Acharya’, ‘Naarappa’ and Bala Krishna-Boyapati film which is touted to be mega budgeted films that would breathe life into industry box-office. Tensions prevailed in the following unit members if the release would be stalled due to lockdown. On the other hand, many new movies which started shooting are left oblivious.
