Almost a day after the state reported 43,183, the highest single-day rise in coronavirus cases in recent times, Maharashtra is likely to go under either a partial or complete lockdown from tomorrow.
Amid a sharp rise in the positive cases from the past few days, the government of Maharashtra is likely to take a call today’s emergency meeting after which the CM is expected to address the people of the state.
“Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will address people of the state today at 8:30 PM”, said Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar at the press meet. Further, the Mayor who has been warning the people of the lockdown hinted at imposing additional restrictions in the state to control the situation.
A 12-hour night curfew from 6 pm to 6 am in Pune from tomorrow, 3rd April. According to the latest guidelines, bars, hotels, and restaurants will remain closed for the next 7 days and people have been advised to stay at home. The guidelines also include that shopping malls and places of worship will remain closed.
It can be noted that cinema, retail, and shopping industry associations also urged the CM to not impose a lockdown in Maharashtra, saying industries won’t be able to bear another lockdown.
