Despite a constant dip in corona cases from the past few days, India on Monday crossed the 60 lakh-mark with 82,170 new positive cases in the last 24 hours. According to the latest reports from the union health ministry, Indian states and union territories logged 1,039 deaths from Sunday morning taking the total death toll to 95,542.
With the recent new cases, the total caseload of the country reached to 60,74,703 of which, 9,62,640 are active cases, while 5,01,6521 patients have already been cured/discharged/migrated. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh continued to top the chart of the worst-hit states by the outbreak.

India became the second country after the US to register 6 million Covid-19 cases on Sunday. Amidst which, the Indian population is still far from achieving herd immunity against Covid-19, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said on Saturday citing ICMR’s second sero-survey.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh, the second worst-hit state in the country on Monday recorded 6,923 new infections and 45 fatalities while the aggregate cases rose to 6,75,674. In all 6,05,090 patients have recovered, leaving 64,876 active cases in the state.
Telangana reported 1,378 new Covid-19 cases and 7 fatalities in the last 24 hours, pushing the state tally to 1,87,211, with 1,107 deaths, the state’s Covid-19 bulletin notified Monday. Of the total cases, over 1.56 lakh people have recovered after testing positive while 29,673 cases are still active.
