While the neighbouring Telangana state has already registered the first Coronavirus positive case almost a week ago, the novel virus scare touched Andhra on Wednesday. According to the information from the state’s Health, Medical and Family Welfare Department, a student who returned from Italy reported dry cough and the high temperature was moved to an isolation ward in Nellore.
The 24-year-old youth was however tested negative at the Delhi airport and started showing symptoms only after reaching to Nellore. While the tests conducted at the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati turned Corona positive, a few samples were sent to National Institute of Virology, Pune, for further testing. The man returned from Italy, the badly affected European nation, two weeks back.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh health authorities are tracking down the details of 131 people who travelled along with the Nellore youth. On the other hand, almost 661 persons with a travel history to the European countries are now under quarantine.
