In the wake of the government of India calling for a complete lockdown on Sunday, on the other hand, the number of positive cases increased took a swift increase questioning the measures being taken. According to the reports from the health ministry, the total number of novel coronavirus cases in India rose to 415 today with 30 fresh cases reported across the country.
Upon which the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has called for an emergency meeting after which, the country’s premier medical research body would release key reports based on which the central government would take crucial decisions. With more than 100 positive cases reported in less than 24 hours, speculation went rife that the country entered the community transmission stage. While Maharastra stood as the worst-hit state in the country with 89 positive cases, Kerala, Delhi, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh have been the other states which noted maximum positive cases.
Meanwhile, Seventy-five cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru went into complete lockdown till 31 March while only essential services like milk, vegetables, medicines, grocery and ATMs will be made available. A total of 18,383 samples from 17,493 individual have been tested for Covid-19 as of March 23.
