While the death toll the tourist-centric Italy raise to 366, the health officials confirmed that Sunday alone recorded 133 death raising alarm. The dreadful viral infection that spread its roots in almost 99 countries has been taking a toll at Italy which stood as the second most affected country followed by China.
As a part of preventive measures to curb the spread, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced the closure of schools, gyms, museums, nightclubs across the whole country. The measures will be imposed until April 3. According to the reports, almost 16 million people were placed under new quarantine rules affecting almost a quarter of the Italian population.
All main airline services suspended their operations across the country including Italy’s national carrier Alitalia. However, International flights would continue to and from Rome. While weddings and funerals are suspended, along with the restrictions in public places like ligneous centres, bars and restaurants. The government also announced that people who break the restrictions could face three months in jail.
