While it has been almost 125 days ever since the central government eased the national-wide lockdown, India on Saturday crossed the 13 lakh positive cases-mark. India has recorded 13,34,309 confirmed COVID-19 cases, confirmed the recent health bulletin released by the Union Health Ministry.
In a shocking data, this has been the third day, the daily cases tally inched nearer to half lakh mark (48,916) while the 757 new fatalities are recorded on Saturday. While Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat continued to record peak cases, the total death toll in the country raised to 31,358 so far.
On the positive side, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 63.5 per cent with as many as 8,49,431 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a cumulative total of 1,58,49,068 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to July 24 with 4,20,898 samples being tested on Friday.
Andhra Pradesh, on the hand, continued to register a shocking surge in cases from the past few days. The state on Friday reported record 8,147 new Covid-19 cases with 49 deaths in the last 24 hours taking its death toll to 933.
