While the World Health Organisation(WHO) declared that the dreadful Coronavirus spread to more than 18 countries declaring it as a global emergency, news that Indian suffering with the infection died in Malaysia set ripples in the country. According to the claims made by the family, a 23-year-old man from Tripura died in a Malaysian hospital after being infected from a new strain of coronavirus. Manir Hossain who belongs to Purathal Rajnagar village in Tripura left to Malaysia to work at a restaurant in 2018. Speaking to the media, Manir’s family said that they received a phone call from the Malaysian authorities who informed Manir’s death due to coronavirus.
However, Tripura Health ministry stated that they had received no such information about any casualties from the Malaysian government. Malaysian government issued a clarification over the same. The police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) issued a warning that stern action will be taken against irresponsible parties who spread fake contents or news or rumours on the 2019 novel coronavirus. Meanwhile, the Indian Health Ministry confirmed the first Coronavirus case in Kerala.
