Seventh worst-corona hit country and 13th in total deaths recorded across the world, while India has been breaking its own highest positive cases in a day record, Modi-led central government has dropped a statement which came as a shock to national health experts.
In the wake of India recording as may as 8,171 positive cases and 204 fatalities in 24 hours, the health authorities issued advisories stating that the situations are completely under control comparatively better than global scenario. In defence of the statement made, Health ministry joint secretary Lav Agarwal released numbers in the recent media interaction.
He stated that the fatality rate in India is now at 2.82 per cent while the global rate is 6.13 per cent. As one of the journalists questioned about detonating global rank of India in the worst affected countries tally, Lav said-“it should be noted that the Indian population equals to that of 14 countries’. However, the specified countries have 55 per cent more fatalities compared to India.”
While the country is struggling with the exponentially increasing cases with each passing day, Modi and his team have been receiving rife criticism over relaxing the lockdown norms which might trigger more cases. Further, making statement snubbing the severity in the country has been welcoming criticism while netizen were seen lashing out on the government.
