The death toll of Coronavirus(now called COVID-19) climbed above 2,000, while the total number of confirmed cases rose to more than 75,000 creating new benchmarks with each passing day throwing challenges to World Health Organisation(WHO) and global scientists. It is known that the virus originated in Wuhan which has been the prime victim with a maximum number of casualties. With the many of the first infected people either worked or shopped at a wholesale seafood market in Wuhan, it was speculated that the novel virus broke out from the market which sells live and freshly slaughtered animals.
However, one of the Chinese scientific paper published by a renowned scientist revealed that the deadly outbreak was the result of careless biosecurity at a disease research laboratory in Wuhan. The fact that the laboratory is just 300 yards away from the seafood market added strength to the scientist’s argument. The same was also published by the new bombshell paper from the Beijing-sponsored South China University of Technology.
According to the paper published, the laboratory ran test on various animals including 605 bats which are closely linked to the spread of Coronavirus. Though the lab refused to disclose exact information over the tests run on the animals, the paper speculated the tests to end up with the emergence of a dangerous hybrid virus capable of infecting humans. Though the paper didn’t reveal any proofs, it has been shacking the grounds of the scientific community in China.
