Hours after testing positive, former President was put on ventilator support on Monday after undergoing surgery to remove a clot from his brain. According to the sources at the Army (Research and Referral) Hospital where the surgery was carried out, Mukherjee is in a critical condition and the next few hours would be crucial.
Confirming the same, the multidisciplinary team doctors monitoring his health condition said that the surgery became inevitable with Mukherjee turning positive. Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Monday visited the Army (R&R) Hospital and spent almost half an hour there.
It was learnt that the minister enquired about the former President’s health and ordered the hospital authorities to render the best medical support to the former President.
Revealing that his tests turned positive, former president Pranab Mukherjee in a tweet urged people who came in contact with him in the last week to get tested and self isolate themselves.
On a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for COVID19 today.
I request the people who came in contact with me in the last week, to please self isolate and get tested for COVID-19. #CitizenMukherjee
