Days after 1,804 passengers have been screened for novel coronavirus at Amritsar and Mohali airports in Punjab, Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu issued a statement that samples of five suspects were sent to Pune for further tests. Meanwhile, news that a resident of Kotkapura in Faridkot who previously had a travel history to Canada was infected with Coronavirus sparked tensions around the city.

According to the sources, the person who had travelled to Canada stopped by China to take a connecting flight, was suffering from flu and high temperatures from the past few days. While he was admitted to Guru Gobind Singh Medical Hospital in Faridkot, the suspect refused to take medical treatment and to stay in the isolation ward according to the hospital norms. Upon which the Faridkot medical officer informed this to the concerned police station for help, followed by the local police issuing an arrest warrant to the Coronavirus suspect on Tuesday. However, the hospital authorities confirmed that they collected his blood samples to further examine if he is carrying Coronavirus which has been taking a toll at the world health scenario.
