While the confirmed cases in India touched to 499 by Tuesday, the novel Coronavirus reached to untouched North-east India as well. Manipur on Tuesday reported its first North-east Corona case with a 23-year-old woman testing positive.
The woman happened to be a student in the UK who recently returned to her home town. The patient has been put under isolation at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences in capital Imphal. The health authorities confirmed that all the people who came in close contact with her including family members are kept under quarantine. “The family is being tested for coronavirus. We are tracing others who may have come in contact with the woman,” stated the official.
Meanwhile, the entire northeast is in lockdown mode with the news of positive case. Manipur government had ordered the complete lockdown of the state till March 31 as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of coronavirus. Essential services have been exempted from the purview of the lockdown.
