Vaccine for Coronavirus has been one of the challenges the novel infection threw to the scientific community. While the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) tested their dose of experimental vaccine on the first human earlier, the scientists at the University of Oxford announced that they are ready with the vaccine.
Into details, researchers at the University of Oxford on Sunday stated that they have opened up for the clinical trial recruitments for its vaccine named ‘ChAdOx1 nCoV-19’, can prevent the novel coronavirus. Reportedly, the team at Oxford started enrolling 500 healthy volunteers aged between 18–55, who, if pass screening, will be the first humans to be used for the vaccine trails which further helps in the speedy production of a larger number of doses of vaccine.
The team which has been working on the Corona vaccine are reported to have exceptional experience of rapid vaccine response, such as to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa in 2014. The vaccine is an adenovirus vaccine vector (ChAdOx1) and was developed at Oxford’s Jenner Institute. The vaccine is also said to work effectively over 10 different diseases as well. The institute after clearing all the permission to be safe and effective would further work on producing vaccines in bulk.
