Did you ever feel irked by the automated caller tune with coughs followed by a long warning message? Need not worry, you are not the only one..!
In the line of the instructions issued by the Health Ministry, all the mobile operators have been broadcasting the 45-second automated awareness audio message that starts with a coughing sound. This has now become irksome to almost all the customers who are in a hurry to make calls.
Chennai based advocate Siva Raajashekaran is one amongst the annoyed citizens levelled up moving the Madras High Court to file a plea as PIL. According to the PIL filed the cording with starts with a cough is nauseating, insensitive which is unconsciously making the customer ill. Claiming it to be a huge inconvenience and nuisance value, the PIL named the Health Ministry, the Ministry of Telecommunications, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) as respondents.
Further, the PIL suggested the caller tune could be a soothing one instead of horrifying coughs and wasting the time of people. The petition also noted that the awareness campaign can be through other means such as text messages, social media ads and banners. PIL then urged the court to pass an injunction against the Union health ministry from playing the audio as interim relief.
