Expelled AIADMK leader V.K. Sasikala, serving a jail term at Bengaluru’s Central Jail has tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday. Sources at the jail confirmed that Sasikala was rushed to the Bowring Hospital on Wednesday with the leader complaining of high fever and breathlessness.
With her RT-PCR test on Tuesday testing positive, the Former AIADMK general secretary is presently in the dedicated COVID-19 Centre of the Victoria Hospital in the city. With various local channels and social media popping up with reports on her health condition, VK Sasikala’s nephew TTV Dhinakaran on Thursday said that her health was stable.
However, it was learnt that the leader was shifted to ventilator support as she is suffering from a severe lung infection and her CT severity score is about 16/25. “She is on oxygen support; 10 litres of oxygen have been given though her saturation level is 98%,” said the hospital sources.
It can be noted that the 63-year-old leader was a close associate of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, late Jayalalitha. She has been serving a sentence in a disproportionate assets case.
