Taking the ‘green’ path taken by the states like Rajasthan, Delhi, West Bengal and Maharastra amidst the pandemic situations, Telangana High Court on Thursday issued crucial orders over the ban on fireworks on Diwali.
Instructing the state government to restrict the sale and purchase of crackers across the state, the High Court ruled out in favour of the PIL filed by advocate Indra Prakash.
The petitioner in his PIL urged the High Court to take action against the bursting of firecrackers for Diwali festival while the cases in Telugu states started to increase steadily after a sudden dip last month.
The petitioner also raised concerns over the increasing health risks due to air pollution after burning the crackers. The government ordered all officers to implement the crackers orders and conduct necessary awareness campaigns.
It can be noted that National Green Tribunal(NGT) on November 5th issued directions for remedial action against air pollution as firecrackers will aggravate coronavirus.
