With a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm during the next 12 hours, Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday morning issued extensive warnings to the places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The IMD also said that heavy to extreme rainfall is expected in many parts of Odisha also. A red alert (Extremely Heavy Rain) has been issued for three districts (Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam) on December 4 and an Orange alert (heavy to very heavy) for East Godavari district.
The Andhra Pradesh government has issued guidelines to prevent the adverse effects arising from Cyclone Jawad. The government has deployed teams including the national disaster response force (NDRF), state disaster response force in Srikakulam, and Vizianagaram coastal states.
In a review meeting with district collectors of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Vishakapatnam regarding the situation in the wake of cyclone held in Amaravati on Thursday, Reddy asked the officials to set up relief camps at required locations.
