A series of I-T raids on the leading production houses from the early hours of the Wednesday are suffocating the Tollywood biggies. Leading filmmakers dominating the Telugu film industry are now reportedly under the I-T scan.
Income tax department officials on Wednesday conducted flash raids on around 25 properties of hero Venkatesh and his brother, renowned producer Suresh Babu. Searches are still going on in Rama Naidu Studios from the wee hours of Wednesday. According to the sources, I-T sleuths also conducted flash rides at the offices of Harika Haasini Creations, the producers of soon-to-be-released Allu Arjun’s ‘Ala Vaikunthampuram’, hero Nani’s production house Wall Poster Cinema and Sitara Entertainment. Close sources revealed that the searches will not end anytime soon and the authorities have few other biggies in their list.
Usually, pertaining to the film industry, the I-T sleuths target the production houses which have had a recent blockbuster. The official will scrutinise the account books in the offices of the production houses mainly after the big releases as the chances of changing the black money into white are high. Most of the production houses also face tax evasions allegation which eventually probes the I-T department into action. But the flash rides especially in the movie season where there are no big releases, are bringing in new speculations. A few of the analysts stated that the I-T sleuths have attained pakka information regarding the tax evasions and inappropriate asserts. Rumours are rife that G Mahesh Babu Films and Geetha Arts are also likely to face the raid.
