While the prestigious Dalit Bandhu scheme continued to churn divide talks in the Telangana political circles, the recent decision taken by the CM, TRS chief further escalated the issues. Shocking everyone the CM announced that the welfare scheme would be extended to government staff and retired employees as well.
This came close on the heels of numerous complaints from the Huzurabad constituency that their names are not included the list of beneficiaries despite being eligibilities. The decision to extend the scheme to government employees is now welcoming sharp criticism, as it is the same government that has been excluding the employee families from all the other schemes.
This added strength to the Opposition’s arguments that the scheme is a political stunt to lure the voters. It can be noted that the government has already been under criticism for extending Rythu Bandhu to the rich, the landless, the income taxpayers, and even the commercial landlords.
For the scheme, the state government claimed to disperse Rs 1.70 lakh crore for 17 lakh Dalit families.
