In the wake of a series of assaults on women, Andhra Pradesh government on Monday announced that the state would bring in a new law to ensure speedy trial and punishment in rape cases. Reportedly, the bill will be introduced in the State Legislative Assembly on December 11, Wednesday. In the line of the new bill, the investigation in the rape cases would be completed one week and the convicts will get the death penalty within 21 days. In the assembly session on Monday, the Chief Minister also announced the state government would take necessary measures to set up fast track courts in each district to deal with rape cases. Amidst the debate regarding Disha’s rape and murder, Jagan lauded KCR and the Hyderabad police for taking the encounter step. He then came heavily on the laws in the country which are taking years together to serve justice.
