In a shocking revelation, former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday was sentenced to death by a special court of Pakistan. According to Pakistani media reports, the ex-military ruler was sentenced to death in the high treason case for suspending the Constitution and imposing emergency rule in the country in November 2007. A three-member bench of the special court headed by Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth gave the verdict in the trail which was pending since 2013.
Triggered by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Musharraf was indicted in 2014 after which the latter left for Dubai for medical treatment in March 2016 and has not returned since, citing ailment issues, after which the Pakistani media started reporting about his exile. He again came into the limelight with special court orders to record statement by December 5.
